Infinite I/O

Infinio FAQ: Free Trial Edition

We've been attending several VMUGs lately in the U.S., and the same set of questions around our trial keep coming up.  Here's a handy FAQ that answers the most common ones:

1. Is your trial fully functional, or are there any limitations?

Our trial is fully functional!  It works for an unlimited number of VMs on any number of hosts, with up to 1TB RAM and 12TB of flash on each host.  You can accelerate as much storage capacity as you have.

2. What kind of storage do I have to have?

Infinio is closely aligned with VMware (in fact, we have VMware Ready certification), so most common storage used with VMware is supported.  This includes SAN, NAS, DAS, VSAN, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure.

3. What are the minimun requirements to install Infinio?

We usually recommend you start with at least 8GB of RAM.  Other than that, the system requirements are minimal.  Best of all, you don't need any flash or SSDs to start.

4. Should I schedule installation for a maintenance window?

That's not necessary.  Infinio deploys an I/O filter as a VIB to your ESX hosts, and no reboots or even maintenance mode is required.

5. OK, but what about un-installing when the trial is over?

Same thing. Infinio can be completely un-installed with no reboots and no changes to the environment.

6. What kind of results can I expect?

It can vary widely based on your environment.  In legacy systems, 20X better latency is not uncommon.  With new technologies like hyper-converged infrastructure, vSAN, or all-flash arrays, you can still see reduction of latency spikes, significantly higher IOPS, and faster overall response time.
