Gartner Names Infinio a 2015 Cool Vendor in Storage Technologies

Gartner is well known for its Magic Quadrants, highly influential and eagerly anticipated research reports res_339_coolVendor2015_refresh_outlinesthat provide a qualitative analysis into a market and its direction, maturity and participants. In recent years, Gartner has introduced a new series of “Cool Vendors” reports, which feature smaller organizations with future potential. These reports profile providers of innovative, original technologies that are making a difference in their respective markets. And this year’s Gartner Cool Vendors in Storage Technologies (1) report included Infinio as one of five vendors.

So why are we so thrilled about this report?  Featured technologies signal what is coming in the future to the storage arena; they suggest new and innovative storage solutions to the data center managers and storage administrators, and offer a path to future-proof IT strategies. Simply put, they highlight technologies that warrant attention from prospective customers.

At Infinio, we believe that our recognition as a Cool Vendor underscores the market demand for software-only, non-disruptive technologies for the data center. These technologies improve application performance by efficiently leveraging server-side resources while extending the life of current storage. Infinio’s unique content-based architecture, seamless scale-out and an efficient use of existing host memory enable users to visualize offload rates and system response times, improving holistic performance without negatively affecting data center operations. Enterprise applications, virtual desktops, and software and build environments are among the most common use cases.

Finally, we have enthusiastically welcomed the second report by Gartner (2) that recognized our product class, I/O Optimization, as an emerging storage category. Scott Davis, Infinio’s CTO, blogs here about I/O optimization solutions that include traditional single-server caching software, as well as more sophisticated distributed scale-out platforms, such as Infinio, that decouple I/O performance from the storage capacity tier.
